- “It’s great that Sam made the Olympic team,” said Retrosi’s mom, Alicia, to Adirondack Daily Enterprise. “We’ve always believed in her, and we knew she could do it. She’s a great kid, she’s a great little person.”

Retrosi and other elite athletes know that the key to success is putting in the time and working hard. To reach her dreams, Retrosi did just that and made the 2006 Olympic team after racing in eight World Cup events. “I knew during the summer that I had lots of hard work ahead of me if I wanted to get to the Olympics,” she told Adirondack Daily Enterprise. “I never thought about what would happen if I didn’t make it. My thoughts have always been positive.”
On the moment she found out that she made the 2006 Olympic team: “When I was told I made the Olympic team, I freaked out,” Retrosi said to Adirondack Daily Enterprise. “It was great doing it in Lake Placid. It’s my home track, and I feel really good racing here. I felt confident coming into today’s race.”
